Friedrichs
Carl Friedrichs is a professor at the Virginia Institute of Marine Science and the Associate Director of the Chesapeake National Estuarine Research Reserve in Virginia. Carl has been at VIMS since 1993 and served on STAC from 2010-2018 before joining again in 2024 as a Virginia Gubernatorial Appointee. Carl’s early research focused on hydrodynamics and sediment dynamics, but he has recently concentrated more on water quality and water clarity. He is a member of multiple CBP workgroups and co-leads the Virginia component of the Chesapeake Bay Shallow Water Monitoring Program.
