The CRC Environmental Management Career Development Program is an excellent opportunity for individuals interested in environmental science and/or management to gain professional, working experience in Chesapeake Bay policy development and implementation while at the same time expanding personal skill sets and growing professionally.
CRC works in conjunction with the Environmental Protection Agency's Chesapeake Bay Program located in Annapolis, Maryland to provide three-year opportunities for emerging environmental professionals and stewards in which participants experience the interaction of science, policy development, and management by focusing on critical issues such as habitat, fisheries, toxic inputs, nutrients and sediment, growth and development, climate change, monitoring, and environmental modeling within the Chesapeake Bay and its watershed.
On a typical day, CRC Chesapeake Bay Program Staffers can be engaged in wide variety of activities. Staffers complete routine administrative activities such as organizing meetings, drafting minutes and reports, populating databases, and communicating with partnership members and are often assigned in-depth, substantive projects to help facilitate a particular Bay Program objective. Throughout the course of their appointment, Staffers are encouraged to take advantage of multiple professional development activities that are designed to help each Staffer explore future career avenues and expand their professional background and skill set. These opportunities come in many forms ranging from individual conference attendance, interaction with local researchers, completing an independent project, and volunteering to participation in group trainings and field outings. These positions are administrative positions, but through the professional development component of the program, Staffers can get out from behind their desks, get feet wet, and connect to the resource they are working to restore.
The Career Development Program offers a wide variety of benefits including a competitive salary and benefits package, three years of experience in the environmental management field, individual growth opportunities, and an extensive network of contacts.
