Chesapeake Basin Multi-Observatory Workshop
A CRC-sponsored Workshop, September 23, 2004
UMBC
Baltimore, MD
There are a number of developing national programs for observing systems that are well represented in the Chesapeake Basin. These programs now offer opportunities for intensive, long term observations from the land to the sea through a number of primarily NSF-sponsored efforts, including NEON, CUAHSI, CLEANER, IOOS, and ORION. Projects and proposals for Chesapeake basin projects in the first four national programs are in place, being considered, or being drafted, ranging from NY to the mouth of the Chesapeake Bay.
In an attempt to encourage cross-observatory collaboration, data management, and modeling, the CRC hosted a small workshop at UMBC on September 23, 2004 where lead investigators for Chesapeake basin projects in NEON, CUAHSI, CLEANER, and IOOS were asked to describe their pending efforts. Presentations also included data management and modeling, critical to data compilation, distribution, and use.
