Driving Directions From Eastern Shore: Take Rt. 50 West. Cross the Bay Bridge. A few miles further on, you will cross the Severn River Bridge. After passing two Annapolis exits, you will take Exit 23A off of Rt. 50. (FYI - Only the second sign as you approach the exit mentions Edgewater . . .) This puts you on MD Rt. 2, Old Solomons Island Road. You will pass through traffic lights at West Street, Forest Drive, Annapolis Harbor Center, and Grand Oak Drive. Cross the South River Bridge. You will pass lights at Virginia Avenue, Maryland Avenue, Mayo Road, Southdown Road and Mitchell’s Chance Road. Turn left at Central Avenue (Rt. 214). You will pass through another light at Mayo Road. Turn right at Muddy Creek Road (Rt. 468). Please refer below for rest of directions "From Muddy Creek Road" From Rt. 97: Just before Rt. 97 merges with Rt. 50 east, take Exit 22 (to the right) onto Rt. 665 (Aris T. Allen Boulevard). Take the second exit - Rt. 2 - Solomons Island Road. This is a split exit for Parole and Edgewater, so bear to the right to go south on Rt. 2. Cross the South River Bridge. You will go through 5 lights (Virginia Avenue, Maryland Avenue, Mayo Road, Southdown Road and Mitchell’s Chance Road). Turn left at Central Avenue (Rt. 214). You will pass through another light at Mayo Road. Turn right at Muddy Creek Road (Rt. 468). Please refer below for rest of directions "From Muddy Creek Road" From CBPO: Go left at the light at the corner of Severn Avenue and Sixth Street. Take the next right onto Bay Ridge Avenue. Stay on Bay Ridge Avenue, proceeding past a large shopping center on the left. Shortly after that, you will take a right onto Hilltop Lane. Follow Hilltop until it ends at Forest Drive. Go right on Forest Drive. It will eventually flow into Aris Allen Boulevard. Take the Rt. 2 exit (or it may say Solomons Island Road - not sure) off Aris Allen Boulevard. There will be a traffic light at the end of the exit (this will be across from Annapolis Harbour Shopping Center). Turn left (and south) onto Rt. 2. Continue on Rt. 2 past Grand Oak Drive. Cross the South River Bridge. You will then pass lights at Virginia Avenue, Maryland Avenue, Mayo Road, Southdown Road and Mitchell’s Chance Road. Turn left at Central Avenue (Rt. 214). You will pass through another light at Mayo Road. Turn right at Muddy Creek Road (Rt. 468). Please refer below for rest of directions "From Muddy Creek Road" From Muddy Creek Road: Travel approximately 1 mile. Turn left at the brown sign for the Smithsonian Environmental Research Center. (CRC’s office is in the Smithsonian compound.) You are now on Contees Wharf Road. The paved portion of the road only lasts for about ¼ mile, then it becomes gravel. You will travel on Contees Wharf Road for approximately 1 mile through rolling countryside. Turn right when you see a second sign for the Smithsonian, which will put you back on a paved road. Pass through a chain link gate. Proceed straight. After passing a large building on your right, take a right at the stop sign and then a quick left into a gravel parking lot. Our trailer is the second trailer on the left and has a large sign identifying it.
