The Scientific and Technical Advisory Committee (STAC) provides scientific and technical guidance to the Chesapeake Bay Program on measures to restore and protect the Chesapeake Bay. Since its creation in December 1984, STAC has worked to enhance scientific communication and outreach throughout the Chesapeake Bay watershed and beyond.

Factsheet: Climate Change and the Chesapeake Bay (November 2010)
The factsheet, released November 2010, re-emphasizes the importance of climage change considerations outlined in the STAC 2008 white paper on Climate Change and the Chesapeake Bay. It stresses in particular the need for the Chesapeake Bay Program to incorporate climate change considerations into its programs and policies.

STAC Review: Review of Land-use and Land Cover Dataset and Methodology (September 2010)
The Chesapeake Bay Program (CBP) requested an urgent, short-turn around peer review of certain critical land use and land cover inputs to the Phase 5 Bay-wide watershed model. In responding to these questions, STAC assembled a diverse team of experts in September 2010 to triage aspects of these questions most relevant to the establishment of Bay-wide water quality regulation and provide rapid feedback to the CBP.

STAC Workshop Report: Small Watershed Monitoring Designs (July 2010)
In the spring of 2009, STAC sponsored two workshops to derive a short list of comparable field monitoring and assessment approaches to assure quantifiable, comparable responses in the NRCS managed basins under Farm Bill implementation. The report, published in July 2010, outlines watershed selection criteria, recommendations for monitoring approaches, and presents ideas for enhanced assessment of monitoring information.
Chesapeake Futures: Choices for the 21st Century
Chesapeake Futures outlines the likely consequences of choices we are making at the dawn of the 21st century, and their implications for the future of the nation's largest and historically most productive estuary.

Chesapeake Bay Program Website
The Chesapeake Bay Program is a unique regional partnership that has led and directed the restoration of the Chesapeake Bay since 1983. The webpage provides information on the program itself as well as specific information for each of the many subcommittees and workgroups.
